How a Scrawny, ‘Wannabe’ Body Builder Learned to Have a Body Like Brad Pitt

I want to share with you my backstory and how I got involved in weight loss…

I Thought I Knew How To Build Muscle

I was in the Navy…

It started with an idea…

I’ve always been working out, I wanted to look good, care about my body and my figure…

I wasn’t very good at it…

I didn’t know much about it…

I’ve seen all those people, who had big muscles and probably no body fat, they were really cut up…

I had no idea how they were actually able to do that…

That’s when I knew I had to figure it out…

I had a lot of ideas then…

I thought you had to lift weights, low and high repetition and that’s how you get cut up…

I had a lot of things I didn’t understand…

I knew nothing about nutrition…

I didn’t even know what a calorie was, I didn’t know what fats were or that they were part of the equation when I got into this…

I was working out but it wasn’t effective, I was just wasting my time…

If I can just figure out a way to make my time more effective…

I’m already trying to look good but how to do that?

I Needed To Understand Nutrition

That’s when I started reading all these books and googling…

Then I finally found a book that was talking exactly about the things I needed to know, so I bought it…

I read the whole thing cover to cover…

My big realization was that I needed to understand nutrition…

That was key! It wasn’t just working out, I actually had to understand nutrition…

The reason these guys looked good was that they didn’t have body fat…

Their muscles were cut up and they looked so good, because they didn’t have body fat…

Let me figure out how to do this! Let me go and follow these directions!

I started to figure out what I would have to do…

I realized I have to count my calories and download an app to figure out, how to count calories…

I have to log all my food and do all of those things that ended up being really complicated…

I was overwhelmed…

This was too much!

Counting Calories Took Me More Time in a Day than Making the Meal Itself

I was trying to count the calories but I ended up spending more time during the day counting calories than it took me to plan, cook and eat the meal…

Also, I was spending time to figure out what I should eat…

It was a lot of work, but I stuck through it…

I was committed to this…

I needed to stick to this…

It was crazy because I was told to bulk up…

They had this idea in the bodybuilding world that you have to bulk up, this is how you build muscles…

Interesting! If I try to cut down right now, I would be all skinny and I wouldn’t have any muscle…

Who wants to look like skin and bones?

Yes, we want to lose weight and look good, but we don’t want to look like skin and bones either…

That doesn’t make any sense…

Alright, I figured I have to bulk up and build muscle…

My Attempt to Build Big Muscles Caused Me to Become Obese and Have Major Health Issues

So I did that!

I was eating a lot of food and I even went from 160 pounds to 195 pounds…

I gained 35 pounds in a matter of couple of months…

I thought I was doing good, because I was getting big…

When I looked at the mirror, I was still fat…

Wait a minute! I didn’t like the way I looked…

I start getting health issues like really bad heartburn…

After every meal it was so bad that my chest would just burn really bad…

I even thought about going to the doctor to get medicine for it…

Also I started eating Tums with every meal…

It was really bad…

I started to get unhealthy just from this extra weight I had been putting on…

My knees started hurting…

I used to run a lot, but I started to get a joint pain from all the extra weight that was on my knees…

People actually started make comments to me…

For example, I was at the gym one day, one guy came up to me and tapped me on the stomach…

He laughed at that and said I have a nice little beer belly…

I was thinking that I am going through all this work of counting calories, I’m trying to look good but this is opposite of what I want to achieve…

Now I have a beer belly?

I was trying to bulk up…

I thought, alright, so I put on a little extra fat…Whatever…

Then something else happened…

I got selected for the Sailor of the Quarter, which meant that I would have to go in front of the board…

It was like selecting an employee of the month…

I had to go in front of the panel of people to be interviewed to see if I should be the one at the command to get the best employee of that month or that quarter…

So I went there but I had to be in my Dress Whites uniform…

I hadn’t realized how much weight I had really put on…

In the morning, I put on my Dress White pants and I just stopped breathing for a second because when my pants got up to my hips, I really struggled to get them past my hips…

When I finally got the pants past my hips and I had to zip them up, that was the real battle…

I was struggling to zip up and button my pants…

I was in shock! I could not believe this was happening…

I had the board in about 3 hours and all I could think of was: “This is not happening right now!” I knew I can’t get another pair of pants, because these are tailored and cut to my length…

What am I going to do? This is horrible! I can’t show up like this…

My pants were so tight they looked like Speedos when they were supposed to be loose; these are dress white slack pants…

Instead, they were skin tight around my legs. I was scared that if I would bend over, the pants were going to rip in the crotch…

It was insane! I was so nervous…

I put those pants on and went to the board with those pants on…

I didn’t know what else to do…

I didn’t have time…

I remember sitting at the front of the door and they called my name, it was time to go in…

This was horrible! I walked in there and they had me do an ‘About Face’ and turn around…

I just knew they are seeing how tight these pants are…

After the board one of the Chiefs asked if she could talk to me for a second…

They told me how embarrassing it was for them to look at me with those pants on and how I should be ashamed of myself for wearing those pants…

They counselled me for five minutes on how embarrassing those pants were…

This was horrible! It was unexpected…

At this point, I decided I’m going to cut down all the body fat…

Losing Weight Was Not Easy

Cutting down wasn’t easy…

I had to deal with counting calories, I mean I went from eating a surplus in calories and I had to go down to a calorie deficit…

Now I had to deal with hunger pains, my stomach was hurting, I wanted more food…

Finally, I cut back down to my goal body weight…

I was supposed to have more muscle but the problem was that I ended up being 160 pounds…

I was right back where I started and I hadn’t gained any muscle at all…

Basically, in 6 months I gained 35 pounds of fat and having to lose it again… It was just a nightmare…

But I wasn’t going to give up at this point…

I still wanted to achieve my goal of getting my dream figure, be proud of the way I look and have other people also notice the fact that I look good…

I was happy and I wasn’t really overweight, but I was average…

Being average was just as good as being overweight for me, because you don’t get noticed, no one cares since you look like anybody else…

I wanted to experience that feeling, when you walk into the gym and people would notice you, like WOW look at that guy! I wanted to feel good and to have that sense of confidence about myself…

I still wanted that…

I wasn’t going to give up yet…

I decided I am going to keep figuring this out…

You Can Gain Muscle and Lose Fat at the Same Time

Around this time I found out my buddy Chuck use to be 250 pounds and he went down to 190 pounds and now he was muscular…

He recommended Kris Gethin and to follow him and to check out some of his routines…

I did, I followed him and signed up for his 8-week trainer…

It was on bodybuilding and nutrition…

Then he launched another trainer that I also followed…

I went through 6 months with Kris Gethin every day…

On his second trainer, he went to the doctor in the beginning of the trainer and had the doctor measure his body fat and muscle mass…

When he finished the 8-week trainer, he did it again…

He actually gained 7 pounds of muscle and lost 18 pounds of body fat in two months…

So he gained muscle and lost fat at the same time?

Everything I had learned up to this point was that I have to either bulk or cut, I couldn’t do both at the same time…

But Kris Gethin has proof! He went to the doctor who showed him that it worked…

My mind was BLOWN!

The biggest thing I realized, when I went through Kris Gethin’s training, was that I don’t have to bulk or get fat any more…

I was so excited! I am never going to put on body fat again…

I did it! I started following his routine…

I started putting on muscle while keeping my body fat off…

No More Calorie Counting?

Something magical happened around the same time…

I had been counting calories for over a year now every day…

If you want to talk about nightmare, try counting calories…

Just do it even for a week…

You would want to quit and be like; I’m just going to be fat for the rest of my life if I have to count calories like this…

Counting calories is horrible! It’s the worst thing ever and it takes so much time…

I had been doing it over a year when something happen at this point…

I went to count my calories one day and I didn’t need to any more…

It was weird because I already knew, I had done it so much that I already knew how many calories I needed to eat…

I already knew everything I needed to know…

I was actually wasting time counting calories, because I already knew it in my head…

I realized that something weird is happening here…

I didn’t know what it was, but I decided to go with it…

So I stopped counting calories…

I went from 8% of body fat to 5% of body fat not counting calories…

Same time I put on more muscle mass…

I didn’t need to do those things that people had taught me up to this point…

I had figured it out…

Magically Discovered the Internalization Method to Weight Loss

Since there was no term for it, which is why I made up The Internalization Method…

I figured out a way to internalize the information…

It took me a long time, but I figured out a way how you can actually speed up that process…

You don’t have to take two years…

If I had known two years ago or even 3-4 years ago, when I first started counting calories, what I know now, I could’ve taught myself to internalize the information correctly and not waste so much time counting the calories…

What ended up happening at the end of everything was that I had achieve my results, I was able to get down to 5% body fat and I got up to 170 pounds, which means 10 pounds of extra muscle and I do look good…

When I go to the gym now, it’s cool…

You can just see it when you enter, people are just looking over at you…

They don’t stare at you directly but everyone are peeking over at the side of their eyes as you walk by and checking you out…

When you do look at them, then they look away like they didn’t see you…

People started coming up to me asking, for example: how did I get my shoulders like that…

People started asking me for advice…

Big part of it was, because I was able to get the body fat off…

It’s crucial! Along the way at that time I was just doing bodybuilding and I wanted to look good, but I ended up helping so many people in the Navy…

I was a personal trainer, which is called CFL or Command Fitness Leader in the Navy…

I ended up helping so many people, at least 30 people, who had failed PRT (Physical Readiness Test) because they were overweight…

I helped them to get back within standards…

I even got certified as shipshape facilitator for the Navy, which specifically deals with just weight loss not the fitness side…

In one class I was able to help 6 people to lose over 60 pounds of body fat in two months combined together…

Cool thing is that I figured out a way and I decided that I want to help people to lose weight, because a lot of problems out there that people have are too complicated…

I went through it and every time I would go to a weight loss group or even in my office, people would always tell me how they are limiting what they are eating and what foods they have to cut out…

It’s all crap! You can eat whatever you want, you don’t have to limit anything…

There are so many misconceptions out there when it comes to weight loss…

I eat anything I want to eat, I don’t limit myself with what sort of foods I can’t eat…

The other day in my office a coworker had made a cake…

The other woman replied to her that “You know I can’t eat that, I can’t eat bread”…

When I see that, it is almost offensive, because this person is offering you something they made and you’re coming back with that you can’t eat that…

I think that is so rude and I can’t stand seeing it…

I want to stop all these misconceptions, it’s stupid…

How long can someone really stay on a plan if they are always talking about what they can or cannot eat?

You can eat whatever you want, the key is internalization…

That is they key in achieving your goals in weight loss – internalization…

You can check it out and sign up for my next class that’s coming up on internalization, where I teach how to internalize the information that took me four years to learn, but you can do that in a couple of months…

https://www.internalizeweightloss.com/

We’re going to change the industry! It’s going to be cool…

If you thought, this was cool, share it…

Take care!
