Supercharge Your Metabolism and Burn an Extra 750 Calories a Day While Doing Nothing

Wouldn’t it be cool if you could burn an extra 750 calories a day while doing nothing?

Literally, doing nothing…

While Sitting at your desk or relaxing at your house…

How’s that going to be possible?

What got me thinking about this originally was when I was thinking about this weekend…

I had a lazy weekend…

It was weekend where I didn’t have much going on…

I was sitting around the house…

I woke up, drank my morning caffeine stuff and then ate some cereal…

I like Life cereal in the morning with almond milk…

Then I was sitting at my computer…

The day just kind of goes by…

Just doing some things on my computer…

Eventually my wife and I talked about doing something, so we are not sitting around all day…

We were going to Stumpy Lake just to go for a walk…

My wife is pregnant, so she is getting ready to deliver maybe today, literally…

She’s ready to pop…

Her due date is on Monday, but she is getting big…

We’ve got an appointment today so potentially she’s going to pop anytime…

We were going for a walk…

Walking is helping her to move things along…

So, we walked through this beautiful forest by the Stumpy Lake…

It’s a weird place…

The trees are growing out of the water…

Water is halfway up the trees and all these trees are growing out of the water and the lake is just trees growing in this lake…

It’s crazy…

There’s a really nice trail that is lined with pines and mulch…

You just walk through and it’s like a mile walk…

We walked about 20 or 30 minutes and went back home…

Rest of the day goes by watching some TV in the evening and then we go to bed…

We Spend At Least 22 Hours Being Sedentary Daily

I was thinking about it…

Did you realize that entire day I didn’t do anything…

The whole day I didn’t do anything…

Most of the day I was just sitting, literally just sitting around…

90% of the day I was sitting…

If you think about it from weight loss standpoint…

And if you think about calories in versus calories out or energy in vs energy out…

When you’re trying to lose weight, the idea is that you want to burn calories…

You want to be active…

I hear it all the time.. “how I lose weight and all I do is run… I run 8 miles a day…I eat whatever I want… I’m just a runner”…

They spend like an hour or 2 running in a day…

Still their running is a maximum 2 hours a day…

There’s still 22 hours left in a day…

So, 22 hours in a day they are doing jack shit…

Two hours is the most anyone ever spends on physical activity, unless they have a very physically active job, where you’re on your feet and doing stuff throughout the day…

Then they probably are not experiencing a lot of problems with weight loss…

But the majority of jobs today are sitting in an office on your ass…

Like today…

Since I got to work, I’ve been sitting on my ass, answering emails and making phone calls…

That about sums it up…

I’ve been sitting the whole morning on my ass…

And then sitting on my ass in my car…

And then I’m going to go and sit on my ass some more…

Then I’m going to sit on my ass when I drive home…

And sit on my ass when I watch TV tonight and drink my wine before I go to bed…

Then I’m going to lay in my bed…

So, 90% of the day we are sedentary people…

Look at lions in the jungle…

They sleep 18 hours a day…

In general, as a species, as human beings, we are sedentary…

Our jobs ‘this day and age’ don’t require us to be very active physically because machines and computers do everything for us…

So, 90% of the day we’re doing jack shit…

That’s probably not good when you’re trying to lose weight…

We know we need to be active…

Everyone knows that…

I’m not teaching you anything new by saying that you need to be active and you need to work out…

Everyone has known that since they were kids…

That’s why they got PT in high school…

That’s why they’ve been preaching that you need to work out…

I talk to people all the time…

My barber that cuts my hair talks about how her boyfriend is trying to lose weight, but he cannot do any physical activity…

She knows that he needs physical activity…

It’s not a foreign concept…

Most of us know this…

But with the modern lifestyle its harder to do those things…

Knowing this, what do we do?

What If Our Bodies Could Burn More Calories During That 90% Of the Day?

We are sedentary people…

We know we don’t do shit all day…

Maybe just an hour or 2 hours if we’re really active…

More if you’ve got an active job…

The answer that I was thinking about was wouldn’t it be cool if during that 90% of the day we could make our body burn more calories…

We’re not relying on that one hour that we spend working out and trying to be active that day…

Wouldn’t it be cool if we could target that other 90% instead of targeting this little tiny pebble of the day when there’s a huge elephant sitting right next to the mouse…

Everyone’s trying to maximize that mouse’s ability to do things when you’ve got the elephant right here…

Why not try and make elephant do something…

Elephant in this situation is that 90% of the day…

Wouldn’t that be cool?

If you could do that, you could really supercharge your ability to burn calories to lose weight…

It would be almost easy…

Let’s go back to my lovely story when I was in shipshape class that I’ve told about so many times…

Shipshape was an 8-week course on weight loss that the government ran…

I was attending this course for 8 weeks…

It was in the hospital and we were sitting in cafeteria while Mr. Martinez was up there talking…

This is when I first learned about the idea that you can maximize that 90% of the day…

When he brought it up and explained it to me…

I was like ‘WOW’!

So, you can target that 90% of the day…

That concept originally came from a personal trainer in Yale University…

He’s quoted on so many different websites, medical websites and everything else, about a statement he made that muscle burns more calories than fat throughout the day…

He actually cited that for every 10 pounds a muscle on your body, your body burns 50 calories…

10 pounds of muscle burns 50 calories throughout the day…

Just while sitting during that 90% of the day…

Whereas 10 pounds of fat burns 20 calories…

So, its almost 3 times as much calories being burned by a pound of muscle compared to a pound of fat…

That made people think…

That opened up a possibility that there is a way to be able to burn more calories throughout the day while doing nothing…

You are burning more calories just because you have muscle…

Not because you are working out…

It’s because you have more muscle in your body…

You’re burning more calories than someone who doesn’t…

Think about it like this…

For me, I am pretty lean right now…

I’ve got 7% of body fat right now…

Let’s say I’m a 170 pounds at 7% of body fat…

You put me next to some who is 170 pounds that’s 25% of body fat or 20% body fat…

If you’d put us into a room and sit us next to each other, we have the same exact weight…

Throughout the day just sitting there I’m going to be burning more calories than he is…

According to Wharton, I’d be burning extra 100 and something calories a day than he would…

You’re thinking that’s only 100 calories, that’s nothing…

There’s A Way to Burn Even More Calories in A Day by Doing Nothing

It gets better!

I did some research and I figured out a way to hack it…

They call this biohacking…

I bio hacked my body…

I can burn an extra 600 calories then that ‘other guy’…

600 extra calories!

I can 4X my efforts…

That’s at least 400-500 extra calories a day by doing nothing…

It would be 750 extra if we were 200 pounds…

That’s a lot of calories by doing nothing and just sitting…

I’m sitting there next to this dude…

My body is like a furnace that is burning hard and hot…

You know the kind of furnace…

That when you put your hand next to it and it’s just burning when getting close to it…

That’s how my body is there sitting and is primed…

Just destroying calories all day long…

I sit there and I’m feeling good…

I’m like “man, I like sitting here, I’m burning calories and this feels good”…

You feel good about being sedentary like that…

While this guy next to me, his furnace is just puttering along with some little sparks…

Just barely puttering along…

That’s how his furnace is…

And he is sitting there feeling miserable because he can’t burn any fat…

Muscle Helps to Put on More Muscle, Fat Helps to Put on More Fat

But it gets worse…

Sorry to say…

If I put on more muscle and I’m burning all these calories…

Then guess what…

He has put on all that fat and it’s helping him to actually put on even more fat…

It’s like snowball effect…

Because I am putting on muscle and burning more calories, which is promoting more muscle growth and more weight loss…

Whereas the more fat he puts on his body, the harder and harder it gets to lose fat and his furnace just slows more and more down…

It’s a snowball effect

The fat will get fatter while the stronger and leaner get leaner is essentially what’s happening…

There you go!

That’s how it works…

That’s how you can burn an extra 750 calories a day while doing nothing…

There’s a simple way to do it…

Main thing I want you to understand is I want you to think how much it can help your weight loss efforts…

If you’re able to build a situation where 90% of the day you’re able to maximize that…

We focus so much on that little hour when we are going to work out and we forget all about the other 90%…
